It’s no secret that many of the same vehicles sold in the United States are also sold in Canada. Some offer a few differences, but many domestic products are the same in both countries. The 2022 GMC Terrain is a premium compact SUV that delivers rugged driving qualities and an upmarket feeling from the mainstream vehicles we see. Something you might find interesting; the Terrain is one of the fastest-selling SUVs in Canada.

How about 15 days? Is that a fast enough turning rate for a vehicle? Of course, it is, and GM Authority confirms this is how fast the Terrain models sell in Canada. For a bit of context, a fast turning rate is typically 30-45 days. In Canada, the Terrain is selling at warp speed. There’s an incredible demand for this premium compact crossover, but that’s not all.

What else does Canada love about the GMC brand?

GMC features a few sub-brands that show up as trim levels. These sub-brands are Denali, AT4, and Elevation, and these three names account for a large percentage of the overall GMC sales in the Great White North. The percentages are in, and we find the total sales for this brand:

  • Denali – 26%
  • AT4 – 25%
  • Elevation – 22%

This leaves only 27% left for the rest of the trims and sub-brands from GMC.

Does the new mid-cycle enhancement make the GMC Terrain more attractive?

Certainly, the upgrades offered for the 2022 version of the Terrain bring it more of what many customers want in their compact SUV. Upgrades to this SUV include:

  • New exterior and interior color options
  • Shuffled trim level lineup
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Black Diamond Edition package
    • Denali Premium Package content
    • SkyScape power sunroof
    • 19-inch aluminum painted wheels with After Midnight finish

Does this small SUV offer enough power?

The powertrain of the 2022 GMC Terrain includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine attached to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain delivers 170 horsepower, 203 lb-ft of torque, and 25 city/30 hwy mpg in FWD models. Those opting for the AWD version enjoy 25 city/28 hwy mpg. Of course, for Canadians, this is converted to liters per mile.

Unfortunately, this low power level leaves something to be desired, as does the tow rating of only 1,500 pounds.
