Nascar drivers get pelted by kitty litter during wreck cleanup
Some fans claim that they only watch NASCAR for the wrecks, which do happen on the regular. But NASCAR drivers are feeling a bit sensitive about the clean-up process, which can spray their trucks with kitty litter.
NASCAR drivers are upset about the use of kitty litter
During a NASCAR Craftsman Truck race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, that was a five-truck crash. It created tons of debris all over the racetrack that needed to be cleared.
The trucks that weren’t involved in the accident sat on the track as a response team came to clean up. They used kitty litter to soak up fluids and then sprayed the pavement with a jet dryer, which sent the litter flying.
NASCAR drivers were pelted with dust and pebbles, and some got really angry about it. Kyle Bush was heard on his radio complaining. He said he’s never owned a cat and can see why. Plus, he was coughing a lot.
Bush explained that he doesn’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere. After the race resumed, Frankie Muniz and Conner Mosack collided. The kitty litter created tons of dust to drive through.
According to Road and Track, the track never got fully cleared of debris. Drivers complained about the litter getting in their mouths and eyes. But it should have helped dry up slippery fluids to improve safety.
Kyle Bush still won the race and fans agreed that the situation was handled poorly. Perhaps, they will have a better way to clear wrecks later in the season.
