The 2022 Hyundai Nexo is a favorite in the growing range of alternative fuel vehicles across the industry, and for a good reason. With a tremendous fuel range and several desirable bells and whistles, the Nexo takes an ever-evolving piece of technology and makes it a safe and reliable option for consumers looking for a modern car with no concern for cost. Those who splurge for the peak model will have an impressive array of features to look forward to.

The base Nexo model, the 2022 Hyundai Nexo Blue, boasts a 380-mile driving range with a full tank thanks, in part, to a first-of-its-kind hydrogen fuel cell that keeps the car running with an impressive amount of ease and reliability. The trim features four color options,  each of which features a neutral but good-looking stone gray leatherette interior.

The technology inside the car helps keep the drivers and pedestrians around them safe thanks to a forward collision-avoidance system with pedestrian detection and a blind-spot assistant for when reflexes are not enough. Furthermore, the 12.3″ touchscreen keeps time, music, navigation, and road information handy without squinting or taking your eyes off the road.

Under the hood, the Nexo Blue’s powertrain boasts 161 horsepower or 120 kW of power. This makes it a reliable, far-reaching addition to the 2022 Hyundai Nexo family, but you can have a different driving experience with a few changes from the Blue trim for a little bit more money.

2022 Hyundai Nexo Limited

The Hyundai Nexo Limited trim offers a similar, albeit different, driving experience to its cheaper counterpart. Despite running on the same hydrogen fuel cell setup, featuring a similar automatic transmission, and the same type of fuel tank, the Limited trim holds 120 more pounds, meaning it gets less distance than a full gas tank.

The Nexo Limited is slightly smaller than the Blue trim, and its 19″ alloy wheels provide drivers with more ground clearance than the 17″ Blue trim. While the Limited trim comes in the same colors and the stone gray interior, its interior sound system gives it a leg up on the otherwise identical radio and music to the Blue trim. While those who want more mileage may look at the Nexo Blue, those willing to sacrifice it for performance and a higher price tag should drive home happy.

The power tilt and slide sunroof help you adjust to the climate around you, and the improved blindspot view monitor and surround-view collaborate with an improved parking assistant to make this trim a safer option. However, one notable thing about both trims is the fact that what you see is actually what you get.

What to expect from the Nexo hydrogen fuel cell

Unlike many models, the Hyundai Nexo doesn’t come with lots of optional bells and whistles. The technology is built into every car not so to make you update needlessly but to give you what you need right out of the lot. According to Hyundai’s website, the Hyundai Nexo Blue starts at $59,435 and comes fully loaded right out of the bat.

This tactic works because the technology is up-to-date, and Hyundai made safety as standard as the clean energy hydrogen fuel cell. The same goes for the Hyundai Nexo Limited, which sells for $62,885 right off the bat without any need for additional features. Those who buy a 2022 Hyundai Nexo are likely doing so for fuel efficiency or environmental reasons. Those, combined with the advanced safety features and predictable design, make Nexo an inspired option. However, those who want more may need to think outside the box or explore other options before deciding.
