The Most Reliable Toyota Camry Years, According to Consumer Reports
Toyota is known as one of the most reliable car brands—if not the most reliable car brand—and its midsize Camry sedan enjoys a reputation for being one of the most reliable cars in the industry. However, some are better than others. Read on to learn which Camry years are the best in terms of reliability and durability.
Toyota Camry reliability ratings by year: the best Camry years to buy
If you want to get the most bang for your buck—and get a car that will last 200,000 miles or more—the Camry is always a solid option. It’s a tried-and-true affordable midsize car that Toyota built to last and be easy to drive and economical to own. But, some Camry model years can outlast the rest.
Consumer Reports (CR) is a fantastic resource for seeing decades of car reliability ratings all in one place. It provides Camry reliability scores from 2001 through 2022. We’ve done the legwork of cruising through those ratings just for you to deliver the most reliable Camry years of all time. Or, at least, since 2001.
2005 Toyota Camry

The 2005 Camry is one of the best used cars under $5,000. Though, with used car prices what they are right now, you may find yourself paying $8,000 or even $10,000. While it did have some small issues (minor transmission and exhaust problems), the 2005 Camry significantly improved over the prior years.
2009-2011 Toyota Camry

2009, 2010, and 2011 Camry sedans represented a big boost for Toyota reliability. After a few tough years from 2006-to 2008, the Camry saw an upgrade. 2009-2011 Camry models received 4/5 or 5/5 reliability ratings for every category. The one exception was an exhaust system issue in the 2010 Camry. The 2011 model is one of the best used Camrys for under $15,000.
2012-2017 Toyota Camry

The entire run of the Camry’s seventh generation got stellar reliability ratings from Consumer Reports. This is the sweet spot where you can find the most reliable and most affordable used Camry sedans. The 2015 Toyota Camry, especially, is a bargain. Consumer Reports recommends these models as some of the best used Camry cars overall. So far, this run of model years is the best generation for the Camry.
2021 Toyota Camry
Many shoppers prefer to look for something more recent: the reliable 2021 Camry offers excellent reliability, as predicted by Consumer Reports. This model year received 5/5 ratings for every significant trouble spot except power equipment—and for that, it still received a 4/5. Be sure to buy a 2021 Camry over the 2020 model, which came with many problems and issues.
Is the 2022 Camry a reliable car?
According to Consumer Reports, the 2022 Camry has a predicted reliability score of 4 out of 5. That’s pretty good as an overall score, but it’s lower than the other models on this list. Still, CR expects the most recent Camry to be a durable and dependable car.
