Pickup trucks have come a long way in the last few years. The trucks on this list were the most popular options at the time that have remained high on the used car lists. Check out the options from Ford, some heavy-duty options from Ram, and even the ever-reliable Toyota trucks.

Some things never change, like the popularity of the Ford F-150. According to this list from J.D. Power, the 2019 F-150 was as popular four years ago as it is today. Ford offered the truck with three cab styles, seven trim levels, and multiple engine types, including a diesel. When appropriately equipped, it can tow 13,200 pounds. The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular trucks on the market today for both new and used pickup trucks.

When it comes to trim levels, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 delivered

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offered buyers a lot of variety. The Silverado came in eight different trim levels with six powertrain options. Plus, a turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder diesel were available for the Chevrolet Silverado. It would tow up to 12,200 pounds and had a max payload rating of 2,250.

When it came to the 2019 Ram 1500, Ram totally redesigned the truck. Ram renamed the old design the Ram 1500 Classic, and the new truck got some modern upgrades. It was offered with a new standard mild-hybrid powertrain system called eTorque. Six trim levels met all budgets, and it provided 12,750 pounds of towing capacity.

Looking to tow more? Look at the Ford F-Series Super Duty

The Ford F-Series Super Duty was redesigned back in 2017, which meant a lot of options on hand. The F-Series Super Duty lineup includes the 2019 F-250, F-350, and F-450. These came with three different cab styles, six trim levels, and various engines. These trucks can tow up to 35,000 pounds with a trailer and haul up to 7,640 pounds for the payload.

The reliability of the Toyota Tacoma can’t be overlooked

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma was the most popular midsize truck in America back then. To this day, it remains one of the most popular trucks available. The Toyota Tacoma combines the reliability that Toyota is known for and a variety of trim levels and cab styles. The TRD Pro trim is one of the more capable off-road options that still delivers on the road, too. The 2019 Tacoma can tow 6,800 pounds with a trailer and has a payload rating of 1,440 pounds.

The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 got a refreshed look

In 2019, the GMC Sierra 1500 got a refresh. The light-duty full-size truck was upgraded across the board and now offered a variety of engines to choose from. GMC introduced the AT4 trim level for more off-roading capability, and the Denali luxury model was available. Plus, the Sierra 1500 can tow 10,200 pounds and has a payload rating of 2,240 pounds. Not bad, GMC.

The Ram Heavy Duty trucks also got a revamp in 2019. Ram offered the trucks in 2500 and 3500 series available with a 1,000 lb-ft of torque turbo diesel engine. The maximum towing capacity was 35,1000 pounds and had a payload rating of 7,680 pounds. With various trim levels available, the Ram 2500 Power Wagon dazzled offroad.

Comparing the most popular trucks of 2019 to the most popular trucks of 2022, most of the usual suspects are accounted for. That’s a good sign for those looking to buy a new or used truck, though. If these options are still around and popular so many years later, that means these automakers are doing something right.
