There are a lot of EVs on the market, but sometimes these modern new vehicles don’t make it to the U.S. These electric SUVs and crossovers are some of the most efficient options available to purchase right now.

The Tesla Model Y Long Range is one of the most efficient electric SUVs for 2022

The 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range was obviously included when it came to efficient electric SUVs. Cars.com says that the Model Y Long Range has one of the highest combined efficiencies on the list at 122 mpg-e. One of the standard measurements of efficiency is “how many kilowatt-hours of electricity it takes to drive 100 miles.” For the 2022 Tesla Model Y, the energy use per 100 miles is 28 kWh. The long-range version gives drivers 330 miles of range.

The Hyundai Kona electric SUV has a long range and a reasonable price

As far as electric SUVs go, the 2022 Hyundai Kona EV is one of the more affordable options. The Kona uses the same 28 kWh for every 100 miles but has a 258-mile range total. It is only available in front-wheel-drive. The larger battery pack gives his subcompact SUV enough range to satisfy most daily commutes.

The Kia EV6 equipped with rear-wheel drive gets 232 miles of range

The 2022 Kia EV6 rear-wheel-drive version is Kia’s newest all-electric crossover SUV. The EV6 uses 29 kWh of energy per 100 miles and gets 232 miles of range with the standard range battery. Kia also offers a long-range battery that bumps the range up to 310 miles. All-wheel drive is available with a long-range battery, but it lowers the efficiency to 32 kWh per 100 miles and brings the range down to 274 miles.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 RWD is one of the most efficient electric SUVs

With an efficiency of 30 kWh per 100 miles, the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 RWD is the most efficient version of the Hyundai SUV. It gets 303 miles of range with the rear-wheel-drive option. Should buyers elect to have all-wheel drive, the efficiency falls to 34 kWh and 256 miles of range.

Don’t overlook the Kia Niro EV SUV

While some of the electric SUVs have a few configurations, the 2022 Kia Niro EV only comes one way. The 2022 Niro comes in front-wheel drive with a high-voltage battery pack that gets 239 miles of range. Both the base EX trim and the EX Premium trim use 30 kWh per 100 miles.

When it comes to electric SUVs and crossovers, more options with longer ranges are available every day. While some of these options might not be efficient enough for every potential buyer, most of these electric SUVs make the cut.
