Fans of powerful and off-road capable trucks won’t be disappointed with the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty Tremor Diesel. While it’s a mouthful to say, the truck packs a punch in just about every way possible, particularly with the impressive diesel engine.

Combine that with the Tremor off-road package, which was first offered in 2019, you get Ford’s best off-road handling super duty pickup. It’s able to give drivers the ability to get rough and tough in more ways than ever before. How does the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty Tremor Diesel measure up? Let’s take a look.

First things first: the diesel engine

The standard 7.3-liter V8 engine available for the 2020 F-250 Super Duty is certainly powerful, getting 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. But if you could get more power, wouldn’t you?

That’s where the diesel engine comes in. Ford outfitted the F-250 Super Duty Tremor with a 6.7-liter Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 engine, able to get 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. Wait, 1,050 lb-ft of torque? That’s right.

Even with such an insane amount of torque, the Ford Super Duty Diesel still has a few more tricks up its sleeve. It’s actually faster than the 7.3-liter V8, able to get from 0-60 mph in only 7.2 seconds. That’s quite the feat for a machine as heavy as this one, and it’s even notably quicker than the Super Duty’s closest competitor, the 2020 Ram Power Wagon

The Tremor off-road package has a lot going on

Combine the F-250 Super Duty Diesel with the Tremor package and you’ve got a serious off-road monster truck. Included in the 2020 Tremor package is a ton of new-and-improved features that make it an excellent option for those looking to do some significant adventuring.

It has an upgraded suspension, extended axle vent tubes, off-road running boards, the largest tires available for a heavy-duty pickup, and FX4 skid plates that provide extra protection to the truck’s undercarriage.

But that’s not all. Ford’s Trail Control system, which Ford Raptor owners will be familiar with, allows a driver to select different drive modes that are tailor-made to get you through any type of rough terrain. A state-of-the-art rear stabilizer bar reduces bumps and makes your off-road ride more smooth.

A locking rear differential gives you more control in slippery conditions, and a limited-slip front differential senses traction loss and helps you control the steering wheel in those same types of slippery conditions.

The Ford F-250 Super Duty Tremor Diesel is basically a monster truck

The ability to go anywhere and do anything in your truck is not something that’s limited to the Ford F-250 Super Duty Tremor Diesel, but this truck definitely does it better than much of its competition. In addition to all of the features listed above that are included in the Tremor package, its performance is enhanced overall.

All F-Series Tremors have a 2-inch front end lift, giving you an extra 10.8 inches of ground clearance. That’s the best available amount of ground clearance in an off-road truck and the highest amount of water fording capability.

The rocking crawling driving mode gives you more control than ever over tough terrain, a huge part of the Trail Control system that can’t be overlooked.

Ford even included an integrated electric winch in the Tremor package, giving you a safety net while you’re off-roading; if you get stuck somewhere serious, the electric winch gives you an easy way out. This is a serious off-roading machine, made even more awesome with the turbo diesel engine.
