Mitsubishi has manufactured some of the best cars to buy throughout its time on the market. However, the company has hit a wall in recent years. This is especially the case regarding the US market. Still, Mitsubishi has several discontinued vehicles that could bring it back from the brink of death.

A new Mitsubishi 3000GT could be among the best cars to buy

Regarding iconic Mitsubishi vehicles, the 3000GT is one of the most well-regarded. It may not have become as much of a household name as some of its other cars, but gearheads know it for delivering insane power and proving what Mitsubishi can really do. Notably, this is a far cry from what the automaker has in its current lineup. 

The Mitsubishi 3000GT hit the market in 1991 and quickly became one of the best vehicles for those looking for sports cars. The car lasted three generations, with the final model being produced in 1999. Sadly, the automaker stopped making the 3000gt due to low sales and changing regulations. Still, producing a new model could get buyers excited to invest in the long-running automaker. Additionally, it would be a nice change of pace from the vehicles Mitsubishi currently makes. 

The Lancer EVO is among the best Mitsubishi vehicles

No one can deny that the Lancer Evolution is one of the most iconic Mitsubishi vehicles. This is especially the cause for people looking for a more souped-up version of the automaker’s compact sedan. The car produces impressive power and has quite a bit of name recognition thanks to its inclusion in The Fast and the Furious and multiple video games. 

Regarding history, the Lancer Evo joined the Mitsubishi stable of vehicles in 1992. However, it wasn’t sold stateside until 2003. Sadly, Mitsubishi discontinued the car in 2016. It also discontinued the regular Lancer in 2017 in favor of more versatile and sizeable vehicles. Still, the regular Lancer and Evo could make for some of the best cars to buy for today’s drivers. 

The Mitsubishi Eclipse

The Eclipse is another of the best Mitsubishi vehicles. Not only is it sporty and fun, but the Mitsubishi Eclipse also has a great look. Unlike the 3000gt, this is a model you still see on the road today. Sure, the automaker has essentially turned the nameplate into an SUV, but its lineup could benefit from bringing it back as the sports car we all knew and loved.

Mitsubishi introduced the Eclipse in 1990 but discontinued it after the 2012 model. According to the automaker, this was to focus on battery technology.
