Michael B. Jordan Spotted in London Driving a $3.5M Ferrari F40 for “The Thomas Crown Affair”

When you are playing a brilliant, thrill-seeking billionaire mastermind, your choice of getaway car needs to make a serious statement. It looks like Hollywood heavyweight Michael B. Jordan understands that perfectly.

The actor and director was recently spotted on the streets of London filming his upcoming modern remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. But while Jordan is undoubtedly the leading man, gearheads quickly noticed that he was sharing the spotlight with absolute automotive royalty: a legendary Ferrari F40.

The Thomas Crown Affair, a classic heist story that was previously brought to the screen by Steve McQueen in 1968 and Pierce Brosnan in 1999, centers around an ultra-wealthy playboy who orchestrates robberies simply for the adrenaline rush.

For Jordan’s 2027 reboot, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, he isn’t just starring as the titular character; also directing. And he chose to put the character behind the wheel of an F40, a car that demands respect, plus a healthy dose of audacity.

Why the Ferrari F40 is an Automotive Icon

If you need a refresher on why the internet is losing its mind over this set footage, the Ferrari F40 is widely considered one of the greatest driver’s cars ever built.

Introduced in 1987 to celebrate the Italian marque’s 40th anniversary, the F40 holds a special place in automotive history as the very last model personally approved by the company’s legendary founder, Enzo Ferrari, before his death.

Unlike modern hypercars padded with driver-assist technologies and luxurious cabins, the F40 was built with a raw, race-focused philosophy. It features a lightweight Kevlar, carbon fiber, and aluminum body, stripped-out interiors (no door handles, no glove box, no radio), and a mid-mounted 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

The result is a visceral, terrifyingly fast machine that requires total focus to drive. Because of its legendary status, pristine examples of the F40 regularly command jaw-dropping prices at auction, with current market values ranging anywhere from $2.5 million to well over $3.5 million.

A Release Date to Look Forward To

While early set footage has already started surfacing on social media showing the bright red F40 tearing through the streets of London, fans will have to wait a little while longer to see the finished product on the big screen.

The Thomas Crown Affair is slated for a theatrical and IMAX release on March 5, 2027.
