What’s not to love about a special edition Maybach? Mercedes-Maybach is offering a special version of the S-Class titled the “Edition 100.” What does this particular luxury sedan get? Bespoke, hand-painted, and diamond-studded are just a few elements. Since this is celebrating a 100-year milestone, there will also be a Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC Edition 100 offered. Happy birthday, Maybach!

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Edition 100 is based on the S 680 4MATIC sedan. According to the Daimler press release, the S 680 is unique because it happens to be the only sedan getting the V12 engine this year. Maybach made its first automobile back in 1921, which is the reasoning behind this Edition 100 vehicle. Maybach will limit the production of these particular vehicles to just 100 each.

Mercedes-Maybach will also offer the 100 Edition in the GLS models, in addition to the S-Class. The brand calls these new models for real enthusiasts.

“To mark its centennial, the brand continues its journey towards maximum individuality, independence and comfort with two high-tech models.”

The S-Class will get 612 hp out of the V12 engine. Mercedes-Maybach calls it the “perfect chauffeur-driven saloon.” The noise-insulated interior compartment offers massaging and heating seats. It adds an additional seven inches onto the wheelbase and comes with all-wheel drive.

The GLS SUV will get 557 hp and an additional 12 inches of height. This also adds an extra 39 inches of legroom inside. The GLS will have air suspension, a soundproof interior, and electric extendable running boards.

The coloring of the luxury vehicles received extra attention. The S-Class and GLS are hand-painted in high-tech silver and nautical blue. The interior is a special design in crystal white and silver-grey pearl. “Edition 100” is illuminated on pillars around the interior while also on the hub caps. The wheels of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS are forged and come in a new grey finish. The S-Class wheels also come in this color.

Both the Mercedes-Maybach sedan and SUV come with a car cover and a handmade leather storage file. But that’s not all! Buyers will receive a diamond-studded fountain pen and a special edition engraved Robbe & Berking champagne flute. But fear not. There are also water or other tumblers available to match the Robbe & Berking flutes. The pen will be an 18-carat gold nib and mother-of-pearl. While the clip of the pen is available with either 100 black or white diamonds.

Orders for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and GLS Edition 100 will open at the end of 2021. The brand plans to offer the Edition 100 vehicles to dealerships in early 2022.

“What is good must also be beautiful.”

Wilhelm and Karl Maybach started working on Mercedes-Maybach at the start of the 20th century. The father and son group were known as designers and trailblazers of the luxury automotive industry. Mercedes-Maybach continues to strive for perfection and craftmanship along with innovation. Now 100 years later, that work remains at the forefront of the luxury automobile market.

Mercedes-Maybach will be adding some electric vehicles to the lineup come 2023. The new 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS will also see a Mercedes-Maybach EQS variety. It will be the first fully electric Maybach series model for the brand. It sounds like Mercedes-Maybach knows how to celebrate a 100th birthday in style.
