A Mercedes-Benz dealership visit in Alpharetta, Georgia, turned into something more of an unsettling thriller plot than a routine service appointment.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, a service advisor at RBM of Alpharetta told investigators she was kidnapped by a customer late last week. The man, a 39-year-old named Barinuaadum Bariyiga, allegedly asked the employee to hop into his loaner vehicle to “explain its features.”

Once the Mercedes-Benz service department employee got in, police say he floored it and drove off

She reportedly pleaded with him to return. Instead, he kept her in the vehicle for nearly 40 minutes.

During the drive, deputies said he bombarded her with personal questions, asked her out, and even took her phone to call himself. He reportedly saved her number in the process, WRAL shared. The woman told police she feared for her safety throughout the ride.

Bariyiga eventually brought her back to the Mercedes-Benz dealership, where things got even weirder. He didn’t just drop her off. Police say they found him in the service area trying to leave. Apparently he left his own child at the dealership during the entire incident.

He now faces several serious charges, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, and obstruction. The Mercedes-Benz dealership didn’t comment on any modifications to its policies.
