A 19-year-old man from Lindenwold was charged with organizing an unsanctioned car meet in a Kohl’s parking lot in Gloucester County, as several car clubs participated with a massive turnout, turning the area into a big car fest.
The parking lot in Washington Township turned into a scene straight from The Fast and the Furious, as different kinds of cars arrived with fancy paint jobs, low-slung suspension, and aftermarket rims. A reel on Instagram highlights the scale of the meet as a sea of modified cars spread across the parking lot.
Several cars had their hoods up to show off large turbos, while some flashed fancy lights. Of course, there was one car that ejected flames from the exhaust, prompting one to imagine that it would line up next to a blue-silver Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, a gold Toyota Supra, an orange-red Mazda RX-7, and a pink Honda S2000 (Remind you of anything?).
However, this wasn’t a scene from 2 Fast 2 Furious. The car meet was soon disrupted after people complained about the noise of revving engines, cars racing on the road, and the loud music being played in the parking lot.

The situation took an ugly turn after one of the cars from the meet was involved in a hit-and-run incident nearby. Police soon arrived at the scene of the meet to find a packed parking lot, filled with cars from different clubs during business hours.
As no permission was obtained for the meet, the police acted on the complaints of the people who reported the disturbance by attempting to disperse the crowd. According to NJ.com, the organizer was charged with “disorderly conduct and municipal ordinance violations for breach of peace and for hosting a large gathering without a permit.”
Police confirmed that the car meet was marketed extensively on social media as the ‘South Jersey MEGA MEET 2026 Season Opener.’ The police are also looking for other participants to file charges after reviewing video from security cameras at nearby shopping centers and on social media.
A similar meet is scheduled for this weekend in the Floor & Decor/LA Fitness parking lot, but the police will be present on site to prevent such “unsanctioned car meets.” The police said in a statement:
“Let this serve as a clear warning to car clubs, meet groups, and organizers — do not come to Washington Township to hold unsanctioned car meets.
”What was promoted as a ‘season opener’ has now become the season closer in Washington Township.”
