The Blue Oval is having an exciting run with the revival of legendary nameplates like the Bronco and the introduction of brand-spankin’ new nameplates. Electrek claims that Ford’s original plan was to produce 15,000 models in 2022, 55,000 in 2023, and 80,000 F-150 Lightnings in 2024.

Today, Ford has changed plans to meet the overwhelming demand. The Blue Oval now hopes to produce 150,000 electric trucks annually around 2023. These production numbers are ambitious, to say the least. Most major automakers have struggled with supply issues that stemmed from the pandemic. This has led to late deliveries, unfulfilled orders, and consumers being offered different trims because the vehicles they ordered were completely sold out.

It’s tough to keep up with the amazing demand for F-150 Lightning electric trucks, but Ford opened the flood gates when it introduced the innovative vehicle. America is ready for an electric Ford. Will most Americans get an electric Ford anytime soon?

The reality is that Ford is struggling to satisfy the demand for the EV. It has yet to release and there are already over 200,000 reservations to be filled. If the F-150 Lightning performs anything like the Mustang Mach-E Ford, America could go crazy for the new electric truck.

Can the F-150 Lightning power a house?

Ford has found a way to make America’s favorite workhorse even more practical by electrifying it. The F-150 Lighning’s electric powertrain gives it even more utility than its F-150 ancestor.

The F-150 Lightning can power a house when it is equipped with Intelligent Backup Power. This feature allows the Ford F-150 Lightning to act as a backup generator in the event of a power outage. This is an incredibly usual feature as natural disasters have become more common in the United States in recent years.

The Blue Oval is clearly making the most of the vehicle’s electric powertrain. The truck can also power multiple tools and appliances when equipped with the Pro Power Onboard package.

If you thought the F-150 Lightning would be readily available anytime soon, then you’re sadly mistaken. Ford is doing its best to meet the demand for its new electric pickup truck, but it could take years to fulfill current reservations and orders. Some F-150 Lightning models will be available, but the most affordable Pro and XLT trims will be incredibly challenging to buy in at least the first two production years of the nameplate.

Ford has big plans for its first electric F-150. If the success of the Mustang Mach-E is any indication of the F-150 Lightning’s potential, it’s going to be a hit. Don’t be surprised if it becomes the most popular truck in America by 2030.
