
“He couldn’t call 911” Florida man saved by iPhone after truck crash

It’s not every day that an iPhone is celebrated as a hero, especially by firefighters. A Florida man wrecked his truck and was trapped inside when his iPhone automatically contacted emergency responders. They’re crediting it for saving the man’s life.

A man in Marion County, Florida owes his iPhone one for saving his life after a severe truck crash. Firefighters are calling the phone a hero for automatically alerting emergency responders after the driver wrecked through a fence.
The driver hit a fence at a high rate of speed and his truck flipped over a few times. During the incident, he was impaled and pinned by a fence post. He couldn’t move or call for help.
However, he was wearing an Apple Watch and had his iPhone with him. The sensors that can detect emergencies like wrecks, realized something was off and notified the 911 communications center.
According to KVIA, the call taker was able to determine that the vehicle flipped over and a person was still inside. The patient was able to describe his injuries, but couldn’t move. The phone also immediately sent its geo-location to fire rescue crews
Police officers and firefighters cut through the roof of the truck to pull the man out. The incident occurred around 5:30 am, and the patient was on the way to the hospital by 6 AM. He’s being treated for serious injuries.
Firefighters shared that this tech is extremely helpful for improving emergency response times. Also, police officers are still investigating the initial cause of the accident.
