California man and dog spend 22 hours in wrecked truck
A 36-year-old man and his dog were thankful when rescuers were able to free them. They spent 22 hours trapped in a wrecked truck after taking a tumble off the highway. The incident occurred around 2 PM.
According to CBS News, the truck driver wasn’t paying attention to the road while traveling on Highway 89, three miles north of Calpine. He went off the side of the road and fell about 30 feet down the side of a hill.
Eventually, the rolling truck came to a stop against some trees on its side. The vehicle was smashed and became hardly recognizable. The man and his dog couldn’t get out and spent the night trapped.
Finally, other drivers spotted the truck the next day. Police officers and firefighters rushed to the scene to rescue them. It took about an hour to pull the man out of the wreckage. He was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
I know you’re worried about his dog, but it’s fine. It’s staying with a friend while the person recovers in the hospital.
Authorities caution other drivers to use this as an example to pay attention. Responding officers ask you to please remember the responsibility we all have to each other when operating these rolling hunks of metal.
