There are some crazy drivers out there. Road rage from a simple fender bender can quickly escalate. One elderly man in Memphis, Tennessee faced an ax-swinging maniac after accidentally hitting the back of a Chevrolet Impala. 

Ax-wielding man attacks elderly man’s SUV 

A 76-year-old man was out in Memphis, Tennessee with his girlfriend during a peaceful morning when the day suddenly turned violent. 

The couple was shopping for fabric when the elderly man accidentally rear ended a Chevy Impala with his Nissan Xterra. They both pulled over, and a man got out of the Impala carrying something in his hand. 

Then he realized the man had an ax. The couple was afraid for their lives as the angry man broke their back window with two swings, chopped a hole in the driver’s side door, and smashed the windshield. 

Witnesses called 911 as the man with the ax taunted the driver to get out of his Nissan SUV. The elderly man said he didn’t want to do that. The couple was frozen in fear and didn’t even realize that they could have driven away. 

As a larger crowd began to gather the man carried his ax back to the Impala and drove away. According to News Nation Now, he’s still at large. 

Witnesses provided as many details as they could to police officers, and provided the tag number for the Chevy Impala. He is facing charges of aggravated assault.
