According to Kelley Blue Book, most models have a 6.2-liter V8 engine paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. This gives you 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. This powertrain returns 14 city/19 hwy mpg and is set up with 4WD.

You have the option of a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel six-cylinder engine that makes 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine also mates to a ten-speed automatic transmission. You can have an RWD model that gives you 23 city/31 hwy mpg or the 4WD version that returns 22 city/26 hwy mpg.

Using either of these powertrains, you’ll have 13,300 pounds of towing with this big and luxurious pickup truck.

Selecting the High Country trim of the Silverado 1500 isn’t going to come cheap. You’ll spend at least $56,800 for a 2WD model with a short bed. Check the boxes for the 4WD short bed version, and you’ll spend $60,300, while the 4WD model with the standard bed runs $60,600.

Only the Ram 1500 Limited is in the same price range as the Silverado among luxury half-ton trucks. The Ram starts at $60,595, making it slightly more expensive than the Chevy. If you turn to the Toyota Tundra Capstone, GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, or the Ford F-150 Limited, you’ll spend more than $72,000 for each of these other trucks.
