Loved Ones Heartbroken After Tree Falls on Car in Virginia, Killing Father of Two

Loved ones are grieving the sudden death of a 39-year-old man from Maryland, who passed away after a tree fell on his car. Identified as Elik Topolosky, he leaves behind his wife and two young children. The tragic death highlights the uncertain nature of life, as reflected by his elder brother, who was shocked by the incident.

Elik was the youngest of the four brothers. His loved ones described him as a family man who always stood by them unconditionally.

Speaking of the incident, Elik’s family stated that he was driving south on the George Washington Memorial Parkway when a tree suddenly fell onto his car on Thursday.

His brother Uri Topolosky, a rabbi at a local synagogue, said that Elik’s passing was tough for him to comprehend. He said:

“It feels so surreal. It’s such a tragedy. You don’t get a chance to say goodbye.

“We are totally, totally in shock.”

Uri spoke on the nature of the incident, highlighting how his brother was the only one on whom the tree fell. He added:

“It’s a one in a trillion insanity. What are the chances a tree comes down on a highway when you are driving and he was the only victim?”

As a rabbi, Uri often consoles others who have lost loved ones, but this time, he was at the receiving end. He said:

“I am usually on the other side of this, as you can imagine. It’s just so heartbreaking right now.”

Uri revealed how Elik treated other kids as his own, describing his lovable personality. He said:

“My kids have a very close relationship with [Elik] just because of the way he unconditionally loves and supports them. They also remember him as someone with a big personality.

“[He’s] goofy, but not in an awkward sense. Goofy in a lovable sense.”

WUSA9 reported that the incident involving Elik is the second fatal crash due to a fallen tree on the George Washington Memorial Parkway since May 2025.

However, Elik’s family isn’t going into the details of the incident yet, as it grieves his loss. Uri confirmed that the family will look into the incident’s details and choose the next steps when an appropriate time arrives. He said:

“It’s too early to know any of that. I’m sure there’ll be a time for us to answer those questions and find out more.”
