Los Angeles Crash Flings Man in Wheelchair Into Food Vendor After SUV Slams into Pickup

A crash involving two cars in North Hills, Los Angeles, sent a pickup truck into a man in a wheelchair. Due to the force of the hit, the man was thrown into a food vendor nearby. Investigations are ongoing.

The collision took place near the intersection of Nordhoff Street and Orion Avenue at approximately 10 a.m. according to ABC7, which confirmed that it was caused by an SUV hitting the pickup. This crash launched the pickup into the curb and into the disabled man.

Injuries sustained by those involved are yet to be confirmed, and no arrests have been confirmed to the media following the incident. What is obvious is that the pickup was hit with enough force to rotate it across the carriageway as the SUV driver seemed to blow through a red light.

With the incident recorded through a dash cam of a driver stopped at an intersection, it shouldn’t be long before there is an update. CBS has confirmed that the man in a wheelchair was hospitalized.

How the Los Angeles Crash Unfolded

An onlooker who was driving past at the time explained what they saw to ABC7.

“Luckily, I was just making a left off of Nordhoff onto the freeway and I caught everything on camera, pulled in, tried to keep everything on camera and just make sure everybody’s okay,” he said. “That really, really set my adrenaline spiking and definitely had to pull over. There wasn’t any walking away, or—or letting it, letting it slide or anything like that.”

According to LAist, 290 people were killed in Los Angeles from traffic collisions in 2025. 150 were fatal collisions involving pedestrians.

“A violent crash in North Hills, a truck crashing into a man in a wheelchair, who then went airborne and hit a tamale vendor,” the ABC7 report stated.

“It happened late this morning at Nordhoff and Orion.”

A reporter at the scene continued:

“This is where that violent crash happened earlier this morning. You can see behind me there’s still a lot of debris and glass just scattered all over the road. Now, the video that you’re about to see is pretty dramatic. “

She continued: “The man in the wheelchair went airborne and also hit the street vendor, causing food to go flying. You can see a small SUV T-boned the truck, causing it to spin and hit the man in the wheelchair. Now this all happened around 10 this morning on Nordhoff and Orion in North Hills. In the video, you can see people rushed to the person’s aid. We’ve learned LAFD transported one person to the hospital. The witness who caught the whole thing on camera says the crash left him stunned.”
