3 Lexus Luxury Hybrid Crossovers that Conquer the Competition
Electrification is taking the auto industry by storm, with flashy new luxury EVs arriving on the scene regularly. But even though luxury electric cars are grabbing headlines, traditional hybrids remain the most practical option for most drivers. There are plenty of luxury hybrid crossovers on the market that sit at the point where practicality, efficiency, and comfort meet. According to some, the best of these luxury hybrid SUVs come from Lexus.
Majority of best luxury hybrid SUVs come from Lexus according to one list
Most luxury automakers have equipped their crossovers with hybrid systems by now – but not all premium hybrid SUVs are equal. According to U.S. News and World Report, there are just four models that earn spots as the best luxury hybrid SUVs. Three out of four are Lexus hybrid crossovers:
- Lexus NX
- Lexus RX
- Lexus UX
The only other luxury hybrid SUV to make the list is the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid. The Lexus trio defeated a gamut of options from the likes of Volvo, Lincoln, and Land Rover to make the list.
1. Lexus NX Hybrid can be plugless or plug-in
The 2023 Lexus NX has the distinct advantage of offering both a conventional hybrid powertrain and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The compact luxury crossover offers sporty looks and, according to U.S. News, better power and acceleration than the smaller Lexus UX. On the other hand, the NX Hybrid doesn’t offer quite as much interior space as the roomier Lexus RX Hybrid.
2. Lexus RX adds efficiency to a brand staple
The Lexus RX has spent two decades as a pillar of the Lexus model lineup. The hybrid version makes the nameplate even better with its added fuel economy. Plentiful features and sharp looks helped it make the best luxury hybrid SUVs list. And it’s pretty powerful too with up to 366 combined system horsepower. However, U.S. News and World Report points out weaknesses in handling and cargo capacity.
3. Lexus UX is a fuel-efficient, value-friendly option
The Lexus UX Hybrid is the smallest crossover available from Lexus. Again, sleek styling helps this model stand out. The UX Hybrid offers outstanding fuel economy and features. According to U.S. News and World Report, it’s rated for up to 42 mpg combined. The UX Hybrid’s formerly standard all-wheel drive system has become an option, however.
Are Lexus hybrid crossovers worth it?
In an age when electrification is becoming ubiquitous, opting for a hybrid powertrain in luxury crossover is an easy choice. Modern hybrids skillfully blend power and efficiency for a well-rounded driving experience. These new Lexus hybrid SUVs are no different.
