Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari last year with the goal of securing his eighth title. While that remains a work in progress, he has admitted to another dream of his: climbing Mount Everest!
Given Hamilton’s love for adventure, no mountainous task could stop him from achieving his goals. Not even his age. The British driver will turn 42 this year, leading many to question if he is past his prime. However, his F1 sprint victory in China last year silenced skeptics, a feat that marked Ferrari’s only victory in 2025.
That was achieved despite challenges with the Ferrari SF-25, which even his experienced teammate Charles Leclerc struggled with. But with new technical regulations in F1 this year, the 2026 season begins on a blank slate this weekend in Melbourne, Australia. Ferrari’s new car, the SF-26, showed strong performance on the last day of pre-season testing when Leclerc set the fastest time.

Ahead of the race weekend, F1 drivers were asked about their dreams for the future. Naturally, Hamilton chose adventure. He said:
“I wanna travel through India and then make my way up through the Himalayas.
“That’s like my future dream for me, and then I’m gonna climb Mount Everest.”

In a recent interview, Hamilton spoke about his goal and sent a strong message of how not to get bogged down by failures. Despite not winning a championship with Ferrari last year, he made it clear that he wasn’t giving up.
“It’s about analysing where you are, setting goals and a way to achieve them,” he said.
“My goal last year was to win the World Championship with Ferrari, but I didn’t succeed.
“That doesn’t mean I can’t get there: you have to look inside yourself and observe the people around you, from your colleagues to your family, stay motivated, and ask yourself uncomfortable questions.
“‘Am I doing enough? Can I be better? Can I be kinder? How should I change my methods?’”
When asked if he was feeling different about his season, he answered:
“This is the Year of the Fire Horse, according to the Chinese calendar. It represents freedom, the desire to clear your mind of pressure and refocus on fundamental values.
“When you let responsibility weigh you down, you risk losing not only yourself but also the fun. You have to rediscover joy. When we presented the new car, I felt as happy as a child.”
