LEGO Toyota Land Cruiser Built Using 440,000 Pieces
Someone built a life-size 1:1 scale Toyota Land Cruiser SUV entirely out of LEGO. Move over Death Star LEGO set; we’ve got a Toyota SUV to build. As with any massive model made from LEGO bricks, the Land Cruiser is wildly impressive. Of course, this model is from outside the US because we can’t have Land Cruisers here anymore.
How big is the LEGO Toyota Land Cruiser?
The LEGO Toyota Land Cruiser is a 1:1 scale to the authentic SUV, which is massive for something built out of tiny bricks. The model is made from 440,000 total pieces and took workers 2,688 hours to create. Amazingly, the LEGO model almost weighs as much as the actual vehicle. It comes in at a hefty 4,500 pounds, which is ridiculous considering each LEGO brick weighs 0.00551156 of a pound.
The genuine Land Cruiser weighs a little over 5,700 pounds, so the model is about 1,200 pounds lighter. As for the length, width, and height dimensions, the two are the same. The LEGO and actual Land Cruiser are both 194.9 inches long and 74 inches tall. A team of 12 members built it, and it still took 2,688 hours or 112 days to complete.
Where is the LEGO Toyota Land Cruiser?
The LEGO Toyota Land Cruiser sculpture was commissioned by a Toyota dealership in the United Arab Emirates. The model is on display in the Dubai Mall until December 15. The dealership is Al-Futtaim Toyota, and surely they’ll be using the model to advertise their business. Promoting the Land Cruiser is something only dealerships outside the US will be doing since it is no longer available in the American market. Fortunately, the United States does have the luxury equivalent, the Lexus LX.
The Toyota Land Cruiser is dead…in the US
Although anyone can gawk in amazement at the fantastic LEGO version of the Land Cruiser, not anyone can purchase a real one. The American market is now Land Cruiser-free, but the Lexus LX remains. The LX is virtually the same SUV as the Land Cruiser, simply with Lexus badging and a few extra touches. The off-road Land Cruiser just wasn’t as popular in the US as it is in other countries.
The Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX come with either a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 or a 3.3-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine. According to CarAndDriver, the two options make 409 and 304 horsepower, respectively. The 2021 Lexus LX starts at $86,930, which is slightly more expensive than the Land Cruiser, which starts at $85,665.
There have been plenty of life-size LEGO models over the years, and the builds people create are incredible.
