Honda is a manufacturer that is famed for reliability. From ATV models to commuter cars like the Honda Civic, it’s widely understood that these vehicles tend to last longer as well as receive high reliability ratings from a number of critics. However, not all of Honda’s models receive high marks when it comes to being reliable.

Three of Honda’s most popular models
The 2021 Honda Civic, 2021 Honda Accord, and 2021 Honda Pilot all scored a 3 out of 5 for predicted reliability. These are three of Honda’s most sought out models. We could never say in good conscience to make a hard pass on any of these models.
They are each compelling in their own right. Passenger cars like the 2021 Honda Civic and 2021 Honda Accord repeatedly top charts. These two models in particular are regularly somewhere at the top of their class. The 2021 Honda Pilot is a great family SUV that many families choose each year to haul their brood.
According to Consumer Reports, these are in the bottom half in terms of reliability for 2021 Honda models. J.D. Power also rates the 2021 Honda Civic and 2021 Honda Pilot only “average” for reliability. That said, the 2021 Honda Accord earned the rating of “great” in terms of reliability from J.D. Power.
The Honda Odyssey and the Honda Passport
Each of these different 2021 Honda models are the lowest rated in Honda’s lineup in terms of Consumer Reports predicted reliability. The 2021 Honda Odyssey and the 2021 Honda Passport both received a rating of just 2 out of 5. While they both have their calling cards, reliability doesn’t appear to be one of them.
The 2021 Honda Odyssey minivan also received a rating of “average” from J.D. Power. The 2021 Honda Passport got an “average” scoring as well. Consumer Reports hasn’t yet published trouble spots for the 2021 Honda Odyssey. Recent model years seem to have issues with power equipment and in-car electronics.
The 2021 Honda Passport’s trouble spots are also not yet released by Consumer Reports. However, previous model years also seem to deal with in-car electronics issues. Previous Honda Passport model years have also had problems with the transmission and drive system––according to Consumer Reports data.
The least reliable 2021 Honda models
While these five Honda’s are all good cars in many ways, Consumer Reports certainly ranks others in their class higher for predicted reliability. Overall, Honda is still considered a reliable brand. Other cars in the lineup like the Honda Insight or Ridgeline pickup truck score high for predicted reliability.
Still, the 2021 Honda Civic, Accord, Pilot, Odyssey, and Passport ranked lower than other Hondas on Consumer Reports. In this case, it may pay to branch out and see if comparable options from other brands get better reliability ratings. While predicted reliability from Consumer Reports might hold little weight for some buyers, it can be a deal-breaker for others.
