Enthusiasts are finally able to get their first look at the redesigned 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback. Patent images of the eleventh-generation vehicle surfaced, showing what Honda has in store for the upcoming car.

Many Civic owners are passionate about their car, so fan reaction will be interesting to gauge over the following days.

The 2022 Civic Type-R has already been seen in testing, and Honda said it would do a full reveal of the next-gen Honda Civic in Spring 2021. However, the automotive world was treated to a sneak peek. CivicXI.com leaked the patent images of the 2022 Civic Hatchback early, and Car and Driver followed up with a report shortly afterward.

These images are intended for patent applications, so they don’t quite capture the final product’s entire essence. Although, it does divulge a great deal of information about the much-anticipated hot hatch.

A refined design

The overall presentation of the eleventh-generation Civic Hatchback is closely related to the current design. However, there are still modifications that are sure to intrigue the devoted Honda Civic fan base.

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback presents a more sophisticated and futuristic profile than its predecessor.

Car and Driver noted “softer and less angular” lines among the most significant characteristics of the 2022 Civic Hatchback. Other alterations include wider taillights and headlights, replacing the c-shaped lights of the past, and a more understated grille.

It’s still too early to tell if these adjustments are welcome. Undoubtedly, critics voice their opinions, whether positive or negative, over the coming days. However, it’d be wise to reserve judgement until the entire package is revealed in Spring 2021 before coming to a conclusive decision. Interior details, options/accessories, and a real-life view (as opposed to an artist rendering) will likely play a massive role in how the industry will react to the vehicle after its proper unveiling.

What else has been revealed about the 2022 Honda Civic?

The 2021 Honda Civic doesn’t go on sale until October, but many in the industry are looking ahead to the future. The 2022 model year brings about the arrival of the new Honda Civic lineup, sparking interest in what’s to come.

Honda will make a Civic Type R hatchback, and Civic Si sedan body styles available to car buyers, along with the hatchback and sedan models. Keen eyes will notice the lack of a coupe, which was scrapped for this generation.

Powertrain details and a list of standard and available features have not yet been announced. Although, assumptions are running wild, despite the lack of official confirmation from Honda. Motortrend predicts the 2022 Honda Civic will come with larger touchscreen and a push-button shifter. Additionally, the publication expects the 2022 Civic to carry over its 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and CVT transmission from the previous generation.

The new 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback has already made a lasting impression

The 2022 Honda Civic has proven to be an interesting contender in Honda’s future lineup with its fresh design. The surfaced images show these changes are not made with a heavy hand, and Honda enthusiasts will be pleased to finally get a look at the design. However altered it may be, the next-gen Civic Hatchback still retains that classic Honda flair. Critics will certainly have this hot hatch on their radar, as it appears this redesign is already making waves.
