Leaked: The GMC Hummer EV Has a Lower Range Than Expected
Secrets about the upcoming GMC Hummer EV may have been revealed. While the GMC Hummer EV hasn’t been officially rated by the EPA, its expected range may have been leaked in the MyChevrolet app.
How much range does the GMC Hummer EV have?
The GMC Hummer EV was expected to have about 350 miles of range. But according to the MyChevrolet app, it has a range of 334 miles. This is less range than expected for this massive beast.
According to Motor Trend, You can look up various features in the Chevy and GMC electric vehicles in the app, and the Hummer EV’s information may have gone live by accident. But the app didn’t indicate which Hummer EV model this is for.
When the Hummer EV launches, only the Edition 1 will be available. Perhaps it has more bells and whistles that drain the battery a little faster. Also, with 200 kWh to charge, you might have time to research ways to save its power.
What else to expect with the electric Hummer
Less expensive models than the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 will be available sometime in 2022. The Edition 1 begins at about $112,595, while the base model starts at about $79,995. No matter which trim you choose, you will be shelling out plenty of cash.
The Edition 1 includes the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving mode, an adjustable air suspension, a power-operated tonneau cover, and a massive 13.4-inch infotainment display. Plus, it’s the first model available, so it cuts down on the waiting time.
It’s powered by three electric motors that generate 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. However, this figure is an estimate that may be calculated by through the torque-multiplying effect of the truck’s gear ratios.
The accurate figure could be between 1,000 to 1,1000 lb-ft of torque, which still offers plenty of power. GMC estimates that this EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.0 seconds thanks to the Watts to Freedom launch control driving mode.
Sadly, the official towing and payload capacities haven’t been revealed. But the match rivals like the Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck, the Hummer EV will need to tow between 7,500 to 11,000 lbs and crazy a payload between 1,500 and 3,500 lbs.
Does the electric Hummer have good features?
The GMC Hummer EV is expected to gain about 100 miles of range in 10 minutes with the use of an 800-volt electrical architecture and 350-kWh fast-charging capability. Charging times with public terminals and at home may be slower.
Its cabin is similar to the GMC Sierra Crew Cab pickup truck. But it has removable roof panels. It should feel like a convertible truck. Plus, the cabin has a lot of space-themed easter eggs because General Motors relates it to the Nasa Apollo 15 lunar rover that they helped engineer.
