Just a friendly reminder, here. Remember that Jeep SUVs can’t actually fly, despite being marketed as being able to go anywhere.
A driver in New York City learned that her 2008 Jeep Cherokee couldn’t fly the hard way when she suddenly launched herself over the Long Island Pier.
By some miracle, instead of plugging into the water, the vehicle landed on a floating pier. It was sitting face up when police officers and firefighters arrived. The driver wasn’t operating under the influence but was described as inexperienced.
According to the NY Post, the driver accidentally accelerated over a bulkhead and crashed through a guardrail before going airborne.
During the incident, she lost her front bumper. The driver;’s side left tire was dangly off the edge, nearly touching the water. Plus, the passenger-side headlight slammed into the platform, damaging wooden boards during the impact.
Firefighters safely removed the driver from the Cherokee. Luckily, she only had minor injuries. The SUV has been secured to the dock by multiple rope lines.
Officials shared the Jeep will be removed by a heavy-duty tow truck. I wonder how much the bill is going to be. Do insurance companies cover accidentally taking flight? Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico said that he wakes up every day never knowing what the day will bring.
