Land Rover Gets Stuck on New York Utility Pole Wire in Bizarre Incident

In a bizarre incident that occurred on Friday night in Upstate New York, a Land Rover Discovery SUV climbed a utility pole guy wire and got stuck, with the driver still trapped inside.

The incident came to light after the Binghamton Fire Department posted an update on Facebook with images of the Discovery SUV, detailing how it rescued the person trapped inside and recovered the vehicle that had both its front wheels off the ground.

While it has not been reported how the driver of the Discovery SUV ended up on the guy wire, the BFD confirmed in the update that no injuries were reported. The fire department revealed that it worked with Binghamton Police to bring the vehicle down. The social media post read:

“Friday night definitely did not go as planned for one driver just off Main Street.

“BFD crews responded to a call on Clarke Street where a vehicle managed to get itself stuck in a pretty unbelievable spot perched right up on a utility pole guy wire.

“Upon arrival, our teams found the driver still inside the vehicle and had to work carefully to safely remove them from the SUV. We coordinated with Binghamton Police to secure the scene while the car was brought back down to the pavement. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

“It is a good reminder that things can go sideways or even upwards in a split second. Please stay safe out there on the roads and look out for one another.”

MotorBiscuit reported another incident where a driver in a white sedan was being chased by police patrol units through Los Angeles County on Sunday night. The pursuit eventually ended after the suspect escaped near the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The pursuit, which lasted nearly an hour, got too dangerous at times due to heavy traffic, prompting the highway patrol to pull back and allow the SkyCal helicopter overhead to keep track of it. However, the suspect soon drove into an area near LAX, forcing SkyCal to end its pursuit, likely because the helicopter wasn’t allowed to enter the airport’s airspace at that moment.

Although the police had details of the driver from the license plate, the suspect not only outran the police but also evaded the SkyCal helicopter from tracking him. Was it the suspect’s clever thinking, or just a coincidence?
