News choppers hovering over Los Angeles usually mean one thing: a high-speed police pursuit or some breaking traffic chaos. But every once in a while, a local reporter looking down from the sky finds something entirely unexpected – and much more entertaining.
That was exactly the case when a news helicopter recently caught some rather unusual pedestrians on camera. Instead of broadcasting a tense standoff or a multi-car pileup, the reporter found himself completely distracted by a rooster and a chicken casually walking through a neighborhood.
In a hilarious piece of audio from the live feed, the journalist entirely abandons whatever hard-hitting story he was supposed to be covering to give the birds the red-carpet treatment. “Hey, they got some chickens out here,” he exclaims over the whirring of the helicopter blades. “A rooster! That’s a good-looking rooster”.
As the camera zooms in on the poultry pair, the reporter continues his delightful, off-the-cuff narration.
“He’s out walking with his gal,” he notes, before assessing the weather. “It’s a beautiful day for a walk in Southern California”. He then quickly corrects his geography for the viewers, adding, “Actually, we’re in East Los Angeles, but it’s still Southern California”.

Back to Reality
The amusing detour only lasted a few moments before reality -and the news desk – intervened. Realizing he had strayed far off-topic, the reporter finally addresses his anchor or producer, admitting defeat.
“Yeah, Stu, this is not as interesting as the…” he trails off, reluctantly pivoting back to the actual news of the day. While the chickens may not have made the front page, they certainly provided the best, and most wholesome, local news blooper of the week.
