The 2023 version of the Genesis GV80 luxury SUV arrives late in 2022 to give us an upgraded version of this impressive vehicle. The GV80 hasn’t been in the market very long, arriving in 2020 as part of the 2021 model year. Why then are we anticipating changes and upgrades only two years later?

Could the other SUVs impact upgrades to the 2023 Genesis GV80?

Recently, the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride both showed up with new models for the 2023 model year. While these two three-row SUVs are a little older than the GV80, they offer much of the same size and build, which signals potential changes to the upcoming Genesis luxury SUV. We won’t know for sure until later this year if these models impact the luxury SUV, but it wouldn’t be surprising to learn this.

Maybe there won’t be many changes to this luxury SUV?

According to Edmunds, very few significant changes are anticipated for the new 2023 Genesis GV80 SUV. When this SUV arrived, it made a bold statement in the luxury market with upscale materials and a relatively affordable price. After only two model years, will this SUV undergo significant changes? Probably not.

What are the pros and cons of the current Genesis GV80?

This SUV already offers several qualities that we admire and a few we’d like to see changed. Here are some of them:

Pros

  • Smooth ride quality
  • A long list of luxury tech and features at a great price
  • Quiet cabin
  • Impressive warranty coverage

Cons

  • Sometimes difficult infotainment system
  • Small third-row seat area
  • Fuel mileage is mediocre at best

Maybe the new version of this luxury SUV will address some of these negative qualities that would make this Genesis even more enjoyable for owners.

With impressive styling from the front grille and headlights to the array of affordable luxury qualities, the Genesis GV80 took the luxury market by storm. The new 2023 model could have a few upgrades, but some might not come at the onset of the new model year. Kelley Blue Book hints at more possible changes than Edmunds, including:

  • New wheel options
  • Updated color choices
  • Options packages fine-tuned

The engine options should continue from 2022, giving you a 300-horsepower turbo-four or a 375-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 to power the ride.

So far, a PHEV or hybrid model hasn’t made it to the rumor mill, but don’t count those models out as a later release for the new version of the GV80.

How long does it take to order a Genesis GV80?

Currently, the wait time for a GV80 luxury SUV is approximately 2-3 months. This timeline is offered by Genesis Owners Forum. In reality, this brand doesn’t take orders. If you want one of these SUVs, you must wait for it to show up at the dealership, and then it can be assigned to you. This could translate into longer wait times for the new 2023 models as they arrive.

How much will the 2023 GV80 cost?

The official numbers aren’t available until this new SUV arrives, but the expected starting price for the Genesis GV80 is $50,000. Adding AWD could take the price of this luxury SUV u to $55,000 while the more powerful engine might push your number to $60,000. The top, Prestige trim, might require $70,000 for you to have the drive you desire in this SUV.

We don’t know exactly what the 2023 Genesis GV80 luxury SUV offers, but we know it arrives later this year. Until then, we’ll hope Genesis gives us more hints at what this vehicle could include.
