The Kia K4 will make hatchbacks great again

As I stalk the car community, I keep hearing complaints about the lack of variety. There are just a lot of SUVs and trucks these days instead of fun cars and hatchbacks. But the Kia K4 hatchback is looking to make things interesting again.
The 2026 Kia K4 hatchback fights boring SUVs
Automakers have created a bland world filled with similar SUVs. Even the Subaru Outback ditched its wagon-style for a boxy design.
While Kia SUVs are pretty diverse and fun, it’s time for more unique options. That’s why the 2026 Kia K4 hatchback will arrive in the United States later this year.
The K4 sedan launched last year and gets a hatchback version to increase passenger and cargo space. Unlike the electric EV4, it will have a gas-powered engine.
Expect the K4 hatchback to have a lot in common with the compact sedan, such as a similar style with squared LED headlights.
The sedan starts with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 147 hp. But a hot hatch deserves a little more muscle. Upgrade to the GT-Line for a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four engine with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.
With the base engine, the K4 gets an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in the city and up to 40 mpg on the highway. The GT engine gets about 26 mpg in the city and up to 36 mpg on the highway.
According to CarScoops, the K4 sedan starts at $21,990, but the K4 hatchback is expected to have a lower MSRP. It should be an exciting bargain with an athletic performance that doesn’t compromise on comfort.
