With the 2022 Kia EV6, buyers can get a practical and worthy electric SUV. But, for those who want added performance, Kia makes that available. Currently, this EV crossover is available in a GT-Line trim, which adds some visual changes to the EV6 as well as delivers 320 horsepower. Later this year, Kia is also expected to release a full GT option, which will make nearly 580 HP and add even more performance features. But, what are the differences between the Kia EV6 GT-Line and Kia EV6 GT?

The 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line is a performance-inspired vehicle

The Kia EV6 GT-Line adds some performance-inspired design to this EV crossover. It also features 320 HP and 446 lb-ft of torque. This model comes with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the starting price is $51,200. Though, in order to get it with AWD, it will increase the MSRP to $55,900.

While the GT-Line does have some visual changes to it, it’s worth noting that it has the same power output as other EV6 models. This is not meant to be the high-performance version of this electric SUV.

The 2022 Kia EV6 GT is not yet released, but it is in the works. Kia has stated that this model will have 576 HP and 546 lb-ft of torque. These numbers make it a true performance EV. To match this power, the EV6 GT boasts heavily-bolstered seats to keep you in place while driving. And according to Car and Driver, a software change will imitate having a limited-slip differential.

Another notable change from the EV6 GT to other Kia models is its yellow brake calipers and more aggressive styling. While the EV6 GT-Line does have similar styling changes, it does not come with a significant bump in power.

Is the 2022 Kia EV6 GT out yet?

The new EV6 GT is not out yet. But, we do expect it to be here by the end of the year. This EV crossover has not yet entered the mainstream, as supply is limited and it is fairly expensive. Supply chain issues have impacted almost all auto manufacturers, and Kia is not immune to that. This is especially true for EV models like the 2022 Kia EV6.

If you do not need the massive amount of power provided to the EV6 GT, the EV6 GT-Line is a good alternative. With either RWD or AWD, it still offers a respectable horsepower number and some interesting styling that sets it apart from this electric SUV lineup. Plus it is available right now, meaning that you will not have to wait on Kia to release the GT model.

That said, an SUV with over 570 HP will certainly be something that is fun to drive. Especially with the instant delivery of power that an EV has to offer. Plus, the performance EV6 will have a top speed of 162 mph. When paired with the power output, the Kia EV6 GT will be one of the most powerful Kia models ever put into production. But, the EV6 GT-Line is definitely the cheaper option.
