Kendall Jenner may be out there trying to live her best life, but it’s not without its share of critics. For her birthday this year, the 24-year-old model and Instagram favorite took to the racetrack in a Ferrari 488 Spider to apparently learn how to drift… because isn’t that what everyone does for their 24th birthday?

The move has been met with criticism after Jenner posted a series of photos and videos to her Instagram, showcasing the day spent zipping around in expensive cars. While that sounds fun and probably something we’d all love to do, it’s her idea of what “drifting” is, that people are having a problem with.

Kendall Jenner’s love of expensive cars

This isn’t the first time a car-related Instagram post of Jenner’s has annoyed people. In the past, Jenner has made a habit of regularly posting photos of her posing in front of a number of luxury vehicles. Sometimes they’re from her own garage, and sometimes they’re not. She told CNN, “Some people get addicted to tattoos, I’m addicted to cars.” We get that.

While we can appreciate Jenner’s love of cars, what many people find cringe-worthy about the volume of car photos on her Instagram is simply her young age and the fact that she has the money to spend on cars like her Cadillac Eldorado, Range Rover, and her custom Lamborghini Aventador.

Despite her young age, Jenner is actually the highest-paid model in the world. According to Forbes, Jenner made $22.5 million in 2018. That’s almost double what the second-place model, Karlie Kloss, earned. I think it’s safe to say that if we made that much money, we’d also be stocking our garages with our favorite cars, as well.

Learning how to drift

Jenner was recently joined by a few friends, including musician Tyler, the Creator, on the racetrack where they spent the day “drifting.” To call what they were doing “drifting” is almost an insult to people who actually know how to drift. The first video in Jenner’s post isn’t even her driving, but they’re essentially just doing a few donuts in a black Rolls-Royce Dawn.

Click over a few slides and you’ll see Jenner behind the wheel of a Ferrari 488 Spider, again doing less drifting as much as just squealing her tires and running over orange safety cones. She does make a few drift-like turns, but we still wouldn’t quite define what she’s doing as drifting.

The most concerning part is when a person standing on the track has to jump out of the way of Jenner’s car, as she appeared not to notice him. Yikes.

She ended her post with a video of their cars whipping past the camera on the racetrack, followed by some more photos of her with the various cars she spent the day driving around in. Ferrari USA even commented on her post, saying, “Need to get you in one of our race cars.” By the looks of her Instagram, she’d probably do it in a heartbeat and we can’t blame her.

The Kardashians and Jenners all have a soft spot of cars

Famous for their reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the Kardashian and Jenner clan are all known for stocking their garages full of different luxury vehicles, the irony being that they probably spend more time being driven around than driving themselves.

Kylie Jenner seems to have the most cars out of the rest of the family, even getting a $1.4 million LaFerrari Aperta from her boyfriend, Travis Scott, as a “push present” after giving birth to their daughter.
