While K-9 officers are pretty cute, you don’t want one to come after you. One police dog took a literal bite out of crime as it bit a dangerous suspect. The suspect allegedly stole a UPS truck filled with weapons and pharmaceuticals.

Louisiana man steals UPS truck filled with weapons

According to Shreveport police, Skyler Jarvis is facing multiple charges after stealing a UPS truck containing a shipment of guns and pharmaceuticals.

He led the police on a high-speed chase after they responded to the UPS Customer Center on Jim Casey Drive. The chase started on Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway.

He was driving recklessly and even entered I-49 while heading in the wrong direction at one point. Jarvis hit a police car and K-9 unit, but they didn’t sustain any injuries.

The chase lasted 20 minutes and caused the roof and back door of the truck to be ripped off. Labeled packages, possibly containing weapons and narcotics spilled into the road.

According to KSLA, the truck eventually ran off the road, avoiding other drivers, hit an embankment,  and crashed at the Bert Kouns Industrial Loop exit.

Once Jarvis exited the truck, he was taken into custody with the help of K-9 Officer Edy. Jarvis was taken to a local hospital to treat multiple injuries, including a dog bite. Also, he may have been in an altered state of mind after taking narcotics from packages.

Javris was charged with aggravated flight, attempted first-degree murder, auto theft, and more. It’s unclear if Jarvis was aware of the shipment of guns and drugs before stealing the truck. There is an ongoing investigation into the incident.
