The Jeep Wrangler is copying 1 crucial Ford Bronco feature
For legal matters and to prevent Jeep from coming at me, the Jeep Wrangler isn’t exactly copying the Ford Bronco. But it is developing its own version of a convenient feature that the Ford Bronco already has.
The Jeep Wrangler is borrowing a Ford Bronco feature
I have exciting news for Jeep Wrangler fans. Taking your top off on the go is about to get a lot easier. It’s getting its own modular hardtop that fits inside of the SUV for convenient storage.
Currently, the Wrangler has a hardtop system that’s too big to fit in the back of the vehicle. This means that you need to take your top off at home or at a friend’s house that you can trust. Then you have to come and retrieve it to put it back on.
However, Ford Bronco fans have never had this issue. They have been able to take their tops off wherever they want without worry.
The hardtop sections are light and easy to remove with tools in a matter of seconds. Then they fit in a storage bag in the back of the SUV, keeping them safe and secure with the vehicle.

Stellantis filed a patient with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to solve this issue for Wrangler drivers.
The patent images show a plan to divide the hardtop into multiple roof panels, like the Bronco’s system. The panels attach to vehicle sides and enclose the roof. Plus, the pieces are small enough to be stored onboard.
Currently, most of the Wrangler’s hardtop is one large piece that doesn’t break down. The Ford Bronco is clearly more convenient for getting naked. I’ve removed hardtops from both SUVs and enjoyed the Bronco’s setup more.
However, we might have to wait for the Jeep Wrangler to get its improved hardtop. The Wrangler is due for a complete redesign in 2028, so the patent might not make it to production until then.
