If you feel like birds are actively targeting your car more than others, then you could be on to something. In particular, Jeep and Ram models get splattered by bird poop more often. But what makes these trucks and SUVs more enticing targets?

Birds target Ram and Jeep models with their poop

Y’all, this is serious! Birds are dropping bombs on Ram and Jeep models more than any other type of vehicle. Because bird droppings are corrosive, owners of these trucks and SUVs have a much higher risk of having their paint and roofing surfaces damaged.

Drivers were issued a survey by Alan’s Factory Outlet to learn which vehicles have the highest splatter risk. The survey also determines which car colors are the most popular to dump on.

Reportedly, the top five vehicles that birds poop on are Ram trucks, Jeep SUVs, Chevrolet models, Nissan models, and Dodge cars. That means Stellantis has three brands in the top five.

The top three most popular colors for birds to poop are brown, red, and black. At least red and black are popular truck and SUV colors. But who picks a brown car?

About 58% of responders shared that their car has been pooped on more than once during the same day. Plus, 29% shared that they think their car is targeted by birds.

But why? Drivers say they have stopped parking under trees, signs, and powerlines where birds hang out, but this hasn’t helped. However, birds can be more attracted to certain colors and may mistake their reflection for rivals.

Why is bird poop bad for cars?

Bird poop is corrosive because it contains uric acid. It can burn through clear coats and the base paint, leading to discoloration, dull spots, and damage.

Plus, it can speed up the rate of rusting and corrosion. Fluctuating temperature and hotter temperatures causes bird poop to etch away at paint even faster.

Waiting until the bird poop has hardened on your Jeep and Ram model can cause it to become rough and abrasive. Then, removing it can scratch the paint, further damaging its finish.

Ideally, it’s best to clean up bird droppings as soon as possible. Soften the droppings to loosen hard debris, gently scrub it away with a soft microfiber cloth, flush the area with clean water, and pat it dry.
