Well, that was fast! The Hummer EV Edition 1 is already sold out, and other Hummer EV trim levels will take years to arrive. If you wanted to get the 2022 GMC Hummer EV in a timely manner, then you may have already missed your chance. 

The 2022 GMC Hummer EV already sold out 

When the 2022 Hummer EV was revealed, GMC mentioned that there would be lower-trim options available later. Hopefully, they’ll be put into production a little faster now because the Hummer EV Edition 1, the special launch edition, is sold out in 10 minutes. 

The 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 had a starting price of around $112,595 before it sold out, and people who managed to order one can expect it to arrive in the fall of 2021. It has a 350-mile range, launch control, and an output of 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. (The axle torque, not the SAE auto industry torque). It also has transparent roof panels. 

What are the 2022 GMC Hummer EV trim levels?

The GMC Hummer EV2

You can get your hands on the GMC Hummer EV2 in the spring of 2024. That’s only a short wait of 3.5 years from now, according to AutoBlog. It starts around $79,995, and unlike the launch edition, it only has two motors. 

The motors are at each end of the truck with electronically locking rear differentials. The horsepower is reduced to 625, and the torque is rated at 7,400 lb-ft. (Again, the SAE figures haven’t been released yet).

The range is also reduced to 250 miles due to a smaller battery pack. The fast charging is restricted to 400-volt charging, so it won’t be as fast as higher trim options. 

With the Hummer EV2, you’ll get removable roof panels, a retractable rear window, the MultiPro tailgate, and Super Cruise 35-inch tires. This model also only gets a fixed steel suspension and two-wheel steering. 

The GMC Hummer EVX2

Then the next trim level is the GMC Hummer EVX2, and it will be available in the spring of 2023. It has the same powertrain as the EV2 but gains 800-volt fast charging and a 300-mile range.

This trim includes the adaptive air suspension that increases by 6-inches, four-wheel steering. Plus, it gets the exciting Crab Mode and Extract Mode features. 

The GMC Hummer EV3X

You can get your hands on the Hummer EV3X as early as the fall of 2022. That’s only a one year wait! The EV3X is the entry-level model that includes three motors and will be available for about $99,995. 

This trim is the closest option to the Edition 1 but has less power. It provides 800-hp and 9,500 lb-ft of torque. It doesn’t include the Watts to Freedom (WTF) launch control feature, but it does have torque-vectoring with dual rear motors. 

The motors can lock their speeds to be equal, like the mechanical locking differential in the front. Also, the EV3X has a 300-mile range, like the EV2X. So, the longer you wait, the weaker your GMC Hummer EV options get.
