The Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 have been in a constant battle for first place. They seem to be dueling each other for the best truck in a variety of lists and rankings. It’s time to settle this and determine which truck is the best.

The Ram 1500 VS. The Ford F-150

To get started in the base model Ford F-150 you will only need to spend around $28k. However, the Ram 1500 starts around $32k. What do you get for that extra four thousand dollars?

Well, for one thing, you get a slightly better fuel economy. The Ram 1500 gets up to 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The Ford F-150 gets up to 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

Also, the Ford F-150 begins with a standard cab while the base model of the Ram 1500 has an extended cab. However, moving up to different trim options quickly raises the prices of both trucks to over $70k.

A Look At Ford F-150 And Ram 1500 Truck Power

The 2020 Ford F-150 has five different engine options available, including a 3.0-liter V6 diesel option. The diesel engine produces 250 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque and has a maximum towing capacity of 11,400 lb.

The Ford F-150’s base engine option pumps out 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque with a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lb.

Also, the Ford F-150 is rated as the second fastest truck of all time, with the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in only 5.1 seconds.

The 2020 Ram 1500 has three engine options, including a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, with the ability to tow up to 12,560 lb.

The base engine the Ram 1500 provides 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque with a maximum towing capacity of 7,730 lb.

When it comes to accelerating, the Ram 1500 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds, which is pretty good.

So,  the Ram 1500 has more power to start with, but the Ford F-150 has a peppier acceleration.

Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 Features

The Ram has a more exciting exterior that has been recently updated to make a statement on the streets. However, the Ford F-150 hasn’t had an update aside from its headlights since 2014.

Both trucks have luxurious cabins with spacious, padded leather seats and large infotainment centers. However, the Ford F-150 is noted for feeling a bit dated on the inside with more cheap, plastic building materials.

Ford is better known for off-roading reliability, but the Ford Raptor comes at a hefty price. The Ram Rebel is still pretty amazing for off-roading and comes at a lower price.

The Ram Rebel also has a multi-functional tailgate instead of Ford’s older, regular tailgate. You need to consider the little features like that to decide between both of these trucks honestly.

However, it seems like the Ram 1500 has the Ford F-150 beat in terms of power, comfort, and tech. While the Ford F-150 is a little faster with better reviews for off-roading.
