RepairPal ranks the reliability of trucks based on the cost of annual problems to repair, how frequently repairs need to be made, and the cost of significant repairs.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has an average maintenance and repairs cost of $714, which is an average ownership cost. The average repair cost for full-size trucks is $936, while other vehicle types cost about $614 annually.

Also, the Chevy Silverado only has to be taken in for unexpected repairs about .2 times per year, compared to an average of .3 times for trucks. Also, the probability of needing a major repair with the Chevy Silverado is 16%, while the average for trucks needing significant repairs is 18%. 

2020 Chevy Silverado Reliability 

Reliability ratings for the Chevy Silverado 1500 are still being determined. However, there are no recalls for this truck yet. Meanwhile, the 2020 Ford F-150 has had five recalls that drivers have already had to face this year.

Should I Buy The 2020 Chevy Silverado? 

Sure, why not? The Chevy Silverado seems like a great truck all around. However, it’s rated as good, great, or above average. It’s never listed as the best. Updates from the 2019 Chevy Silverado include a larger cabin with more legroom, a new diesel engine option, and safety advancements, including adaptive cruise control.

Always be sure to test drive a truck before buying it. The interior of the Chevy Silverado seems a little outdated and could be a deal-breaker. However, it does have the best in class towing and fuel economy. It’s also noted for having a quiet cabin and a smooth ride.
