Holidays can be a time of stress or joy. This year with the pandemic of COVID-19 we have had to learn a new way to celebrate holidays. Big holidays like the Fourth of July where we are used to coming together with friends have looked different this year, but not everything has changed. With many states still on lock-down, Labor Day weekend will look different this year too, but one thing won’t change: Labor Day weekend deals. The car buying experience may have changed, and even become more remote, but Labor Day is still a great time to buy a new car.

Labor Day weekend sales

Labor Day has been an iconic weekend for many reasons, and one of those reasons happens to be sales. While a lot of things may be different this year, and we might not be heading out to our local neighborhood barbecue, there are still a lot of great options for buying a new car.

According to Consumer Reports, buyers can expect to save as much as $6,000 on a new car depending on the brand and dealership participation. Savings could start around $2,000 but it depends on the specific model you are looking at as well as the dealership itself. A used car dealership might also have options for getting a used car at a discount this Labor Day.

New 2021 models hitting the lots

A good handful of 2021 models are being delayed in production due to COVID-19, but some are still ready to hit the dealership lots. This benefits buyers in a lot of ways. On top of the much-anticipated Labor Day weekend sales, prices of the 2020 models will start to drop as 2021 models begin release.

This helps manufacturers and dealers to get rid of the year’s cars and make room for the newest generation of cars. It is also helpful to consumers because we are getting a brand new car at a lower price. Combine that with the discounts we can expect from Labor Day weekend sales and we have the potential for getting the new car we are looking for at a bargain price.

If you’re in the market for a new car, or maybe even a used one, Labor Day weekend might be the right time to buy. Saving money never hurts, and it could be the difference between buying different trim levels or making less sacrifices to get the features you want. Each brand and dealership will have different savings and sales, but chances are they are worth the wait.
