Are you shopping for a new midsize pickup truck? The 2022 Chevy Colorado is one of the more popular options in the segment. Additionally, it’s available with a wide variety of configurations, like engines, cabs, beds, and more. With four different trim levels to choose from, two are far more affordable than the others. Is the 2022 Chevy Colorado WT or LT a better buy?

What comes with a Colorado WT?

Firstly, for $28,295, the Colorado WT has a surprising amount of excellent features. According to Edmunds, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder is standard for the extended cab, while crew cabs come with a 3.6-liter V6. In addition, rear-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is an available option. Buyers must pay extra for AWD for every trim level regardless of price.

Many features are included for the 2022 Chevy Colorado Work Truck base model. Air conditioning, cloth upholstery with vinyl floor covering, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, power windows, a tilt-only steering wheel, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment display, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, two USB ports, and a six-speaker sound system. Moreover, some options are available to the WT model for anyone willing to pay extra.

Remote keyless entry, cruise control, EZ lift tailgate, a remote locking tailgate, OnStar telematics, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity are all available.

Is upgrading to the LT model worth it?

Value is the most important thing when deciding which version of the 2022 Chevy Colorado is the better buy. How much equipment does each model come with and is it provided at a fair price? On top of everything the WT model has, the LT version of the midsize truck gains more. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, power recline for the driver’s seat, an eight-inch touchscreen, and two additional USB ports.

Plus, even more options are unlocked for the LT trim level. Heated front seats, automatic climate control, automatic emergency braking, navigation, and a seven-speaker Bose sound system are all available. Buyers who choose to pay extra for these features will get a well-equipped, tech-filled midsize truck.

Without paying for the options, a 2022 Chevy Colorado LT costs $30,895. That’s roughly $2,000 more than the Work Truck base model. Do you think a better steering wheel, bigger touchscreen, USB ports, and power reclining for the driver is worth that amount?

The 2022 Chevy Colorado WT is a better buy

If you’re deciding between the WT and LT trims, choose the Work Truck. The base model comes with nearly everything its upgrade does for the Colorado. If you need more out of the midsize pickup, buy the available options to gain more features. When you upgrade the LT the way you want it, it’ll be far more expensive than the WT with a few extras.

In addition, for only a few thousand dollars more, the Z71 is far better than the LT with upgrades. At roughly $5,000 more expensive, every Z71 comes with all the options and features of a Colorado LT. The Z71 is a better choice since it adds off-road prowess and more convenient items like rear parking sensors. In short, if an upgraded 2022 Chevy Colorado WT isn’t enough for you, buy the Z71, not the LT.
