2 people are in jail after crashing into a police car while possessing meth filled Cheetos bags in Indiana
There are several reasons why the police may pull a driver over for a traffic stop. In some cases, these intersections are routine, and at other times, they could be included in more extensive investigations. The ladder of the two happened recently, and now multiple people are facing drug charges after picking up a suspicious package.
This traffic stop uncovered drugs hidden in a super unconventional way
As mentioned, police traffic stops can happen due to more significant investigations into crime. According to WTHR 13, the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task was made aware of a suspicious package at a shipping facility. This event happened on March 5th; the package had a local address. Upon inspecting the package, the officers found several bags of Cheetos potato chips. However, inside the chip bags were about 40 pounds of reported meth.
This was when the investigation truly began. The officers monitored the address to which the package was made out to and waited to see when the people would attempt to pick it up. Luckily, it wasn’t long before they went to retrieve the parcel. From there, the officers in an unmarked car attempted to make a traffic stop. The two people in the vehicle tried to flee and then crashed into the police car on the scene.
Following the traffic stop, the two women were arrested. One happens to be 36 years old, and the other is 46. Their charges are for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. At this point, it’s unclear how large of an operation the two people were involved in. However, the work of multiple officials helps lessen the amount of dangerous and highly addictive drugs floating around that Indiana community.
