Remember the days when the roads were full of stylish coupes. They seemed like the perfect vehicle. They were large enough to serve as a family car. Coupes were a solid choice for business executives who wanted to make a positive first impression.

Used coupes were also considered a good choice for young drivers. Times have changed and coupes are no longer common. The good news is that coupes aren’t totally extinct. If that’s still the style you prefer, you will likely be very happy with the 2020 Audi A5.

What the 2020 Audi A5 brings to the table

RELTED: The 2021 Audi A4 and A5 Have Hybrid Power and More Standard Luxury Features

The 2020 Audi A5 competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class for sales. When you take a glance at both vehicles, you’ll notice certain similarities, including power, style, and elegant interiors.

According to U.S. News, the Audi A5 is a slightly better vehicle. They have based this claim on the high predicted reliability rating the A5 enjoys as well as the fact that the installed infotainment center is extremely user-friendly.

One of the great things about the 2020 Audi A5 is that drivers have so many different things to choose from. Not only does the A5 come in three different body styles, but the company also paired it with three different engine configurations.

Your body choices include the Sportback five-door hatchback, the coupe, and the convertible. The engine options include a 248-horsepower four-cylinder (A5), a 349-horsepower V6 (S5), and a 444-horsepower V6 (RS 5). It’s in your best interest to think about your driving style before settling on an engine.

If you’re worried about the rising cost of fuel, you’ll be happiest with the 248-horsepower four-cylinder. If being the first to break away at stoplights gives you a sense of purpose, then you should choose one the 444-horsepower V6 (RS 5) which goes from zero to 60 mph in an impressive 3.8 seconds

MSN Auto reported that the A5 handles beautifully and that the fuel economy is good considering the class of the car. The review’s author was pleased with the cabin design and all the features the vehicle is equipped with. The only complaint they had was that the trunk in the coupe and convertible was on the small side.

In many cases, when you look at how reviewers responded to vehicles, the results are a mixed bag. Some reviewers often love a vehicle while others feel it is the bottom of the class. That’s not really the case with the 2020 Audi A5. Most reviewers agree that this is a great choice.

“The A5’s athletic chassis makes it a playful partner on a twisty road but it can still bring home the bacon—literally—with plenty of cargo space and a rear seat that can actually accommodate adult riders,” Drew Dorian wrote in his Car and Driver review.

Even the driver who handled the road test for Edmund’s road test was impressed.

“The A5 is a pleasure to drive, whether you’re commuting to work or touring the countryside on vacation,” the Edmund’s reviewer stated. “It also stakes out an interesting middle ground between its closest rivals: the BMW 4 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The 4 Series is a little sportier and the C-Class is a little more prestigious. Want the best mix of both aspects? Pick the A5.”

Is buying a new Audi worth it?

It’s pretty obvious that if you’re in the market for a new coupe, you can’t go wrong with the 2020 Audi A5. At the moment, Consumer Report’s hasn’t compiled any data on the car, but they did award the 2019 A5 with a five out of five for predicted reliability and a four out of five for consumer satisfaction. The starting price of the Audi A5 coupe is $44,00.
