It’s becoming more apparent that electric cars are the future. Hyundai has made this commitment by announcing to build a factory outside of Savannah, GA, that will focus on EV production. This is a big step for a company that has constantly raised the bar. They are proud to offer you some great features and technology.
An investment with the future in mind
Hyundai has made it a big goal to create remarkable new electric vehicles. They have invested heavily in manufacturing reliable electric models in the past few years. Hyundai realized that it was time to build a dedicated factory that would focus solely on electric vehicles.
Hyundai’s commitment to the future and electric vehicles is evident in this announcement. According to Hyundai, this plant will manufacture 300,000 models every year. Additionally, by 2028 they expect to be building six models at this factory.
What will be built here?
While we don’t know which models Hyundai will produce here, we can expect a selection of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models. Overall it can be expected that there will be some market-shifting innovations coming out of this factory.
One of the most exciting possibilities of this announcement is that consumers can get ready for new models to hit the lot once production starts. Namely, we can expect Hyundai will build the upcoming Genesis GV60, an electric Hyundai sedan, and an electric Genesis G80 here. Those models should hit the market before this plant is operating. Production will shift to the plant once the plant is up and running.
What other benefits will this plant offer?
Aside from producing 300,000 electric vehicles constantly, there are also plans to have a different plant in the same location to manufacture batteries. This will help Hyundai have batteries for their designed electric vehicles and create a supply chain to benefit all automakers.
Several battery manufacturers are around the southeast U.S., and this announcement further hammers home the commitment to EVs in the southeastern U.S.
Plenty of jobs will be created
One of the big reasons that the announcement of this plant is so exciting is that there will be many jobs created. As of now, the company aims to add around 8,000 jobs to the community around Savannah, GA. The possibility of this many is a huge benefit for a plant of this size. If all goes well, more jobs may become available.
A big investment with tons of benefits
Hyundai is working to raise the bar year-in and out constantly. This announcement is just another sign of Hyundai’s commitment to the EV industry and the future. With the ability to produce up to 500,000 models if the plant is running perfectly and the thousands of jobs created, community members around Savannah, GA, and shoppers nationwide will benefit.
The building process should start in early 2023, with full-scale production in 2025.
