It’s a weird time for buying and selling new SUVs. Car prices are out of control, and there are massive shortages at nearly every car manufacturer. Perhaps most surprising in all of this is how quickly hybrid SUVs are selling. Five of the top twenty fastest-selling cars are hybrid SUVs. Let’s look at what they are and why they might be selling so quickly.
In order to determine what the fastest-selling cars are, iSeeCars looked at over 900,000 car sales in the month of September. Then it compiled data to analyze those sales. It found that new cars took an average of 24.6 days to sell in September. This is up from August, when it took 26 days for the average car to sell. iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer weighed in on this trend. “Car buyers are willing to pay over MSRP for new cars and highly-elevated used car prices because they have embraced the reality that inventory shortages are here to stay for the next several months.”
The 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is one of the fastest-selling cars
The 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is the sixth fastest-selling car right now. According to iSeeCars, it took an average of only 10.1 days to sell the 2021 Highlander Hybrid, which is almost two weeks faster than the average car. The 2021 Highlander sold for roughly $47,631.
The 2021 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid took just over ten days to sell
The 2021 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is right behind the 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid as one of the fastest-selling cars. The 2021 Hyundai Tucson comes in ninth place, selling in an average of 10.7 days. People paid roughly $33,494 for the 2021 Tucson.
The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is one of ten Toyotas on the list of the fastest-selling cars
If you want a Toyota right now, good luck. Ten Toyotas make the list of the fastest-selling cars. Six of them are hybrids, including the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid in tenth place. It took the 2021 RAV4 an average of 10.7 days to sell. The average cost? $36,969.
The 2021 Lexus RX 450h is the fastest-selling luxury SUV
The 2021 Lexus RX 450h is one of the fastest-selling SUVs, and it also happens to be a luxury vehicle. Or perhaps it’s selling so quickly in part because it’s a luxury SUV. The 2021 Lexus RX 450h sold in an average of 10.9 days, good for thirteenth place. It’s a little pricier than the other SUVs on this list, at $59,613.
The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime sold in 11 days
It only took the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime an average of 11 days to sell. It did so for approximately $45,038 each. Considering the MSRP on a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime is $38,350, it’s obvious that people are willing to pay more than usual for the SUV they want or need.
The fact that five of the top twenty fastest-selling cars are hybrid SUVs tells you people’s attitudes toward hybrids and electric vehicles are changing. More and more people are embracing hybrid SUVs, as evidenced by the best-selling SUVs. If you want one of these hybrid SUVs, you’ll have to act quickly and be prepared to pay more than usual. If you can wait to buy your SUV, it might not be a bad idea to see what happens in the next few months.
