If you are waiting for gasoline prices to go down, take a look at some of these hybrid pickup truck options. While the list isn’t long, the Ford F-150 Powerboost, Toyota Tundra, and Ford Maverick are the best trucks for 2022 with hybrid powertrains.

The Ford F-150 Powerboost is America’s favorite hybrid pickup truck

The 2022 Ford F-150 Powerboost is first up on the hybrid pickup truck list from Gear Patrol. Purchasing a hybrid truck means you get much better fuel economy than its non-hybrid counterpart. The 2022 F-150 Powerboost gets around 24 mpg combined in the 4×4 configuration. That offers 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque.

The 2022 Ford F-150 Powerboost Lariat trim is a $3,300 upgrade if you want the cheapest hybrid pickup truck option. You can also opt for the Powerboost V6 on the King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trim.

The ever-reliable Toyota Tundra hybrid pickup truck

If you are looking at the 2022 Toyota Tundra, the new iForce Max hybrid engine is all-new for this year. This year, the Tundra is updated, and the new hybrid engine offering is pretty strong. You can add it to the Limited trim for $3,400 or upgrade to the super luxury 2022 Capstone trim. It is also the only engine option for the 2022 TRD Pro trim level.

The 2022 Tundra gets 22 mpg combined, which is respectable enough. Ordering for the hybrid pickup truck isn’t open yet, and anticipate it selling out when it does get released in the Spring.

Towing Capacity: 11,450 lbs
Payload Capacity: 1,830 lbs
Starting MSRP: $52,300

If you have been paying attention to the automotive market this year, the 2022 Ford Maverick is everywhere. Slated as a small truck with a low starting price, it is the truck that does it all. The Maverick is also the most affordable hybrid vehicle in the country right now, starting just a few bucks under $20,000.

The 2022 Maverick hybrid pickup truck gets 42 mpg in city driving and 33 mpg on the highway. Some drivers made it closer to 60 mpg when trying to conserve fuel, which is quite impressive. The base engine on the Maverick is a hybrid, and it is available on all trim levels. Unfortunately, Ford had to cut production on the hybrid truck because of the popularity and lack of inventory. Buyers should be able to order the 2023 Maverick sometime at the start of next year.

Towing: 2,000 lbs
Payload Capacity: 1,564 pounds
Starting MSRP: $19,995

While the list of hybrid pickup truck options isn’t very long this year, it will continue to grow over time. The electric pickup truck is also increasing in popularity, with the Ford F-150 Lightning paving the way. If this year isn’t the right time to buy a new truck, next year might provide even more options that fit your needs.
