The 2022 Kia EV9 is just around the corner. It’s one of Kia’s new electric vehicles, a boxy SUV that is part of their plan to make an increasing number of their vehicles electric. The Kia EV9 may be an awful lot like the Kia Telluride, which would certainly make it insanely popular right off the bat. Here’s what we know about the Kia EV9 price and release date so far, including how much a fully loaded 2022 Kia EV9 will cost.

The Kia EV9 electric SUV concept photo is displayed from Kia's online teaser. It will be officially revealed November 17.

How much is the Kia EV9?

The Kia EV9 debuts November 11, 2021 as a concept SUV. The concept Kia EV9 is bigger than the Kia Sorento, and may be like the Kia Telluride. It will likely be a three-row SUV, similar to the Telluride. It may also be like the Hyundai Ioniq 7, another electric SUV that will be making its appearance relatively soon.

There’s no official Kia EV9 price yet, but Top Electric SUV speculates that it will start somewhere around $50,000. If that proves to be true, it will be right in line with the Hyundai Ioniq 7, which is also likely to start somewhere between $50,000 and $55,000. However, it’s a considerable amount over the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 starting price of $39,995

What is the Kia EV9 release date?

Although the Kia EV9 concept is making its own appearance on November 11, 2021, that isn’t the date that the Kia EV9 will be released to the public. The Kia EV9 will be formally introduced to the public on November 17, 2021. That will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Kia EV9 release date is in line with Kia’s plan to release seven electric vehicles by 2027, beginning with the Kia EV6. Kia has named them all EV1-EV9, possibly so they won’t forget which is which.

As far as when you’ll actually be able to buy a Kia EV9, it should be released in the second half of 2023, so you have some time to evaluate whether you’ll want to buy one.

Which models will be EV9 rivals?

The Kia Telluride may be considered a rival to the EV9, though that wouldn’t exactly spell trouble for Kia. Still, some people may be torn between the electric EV9 and the fuel-powered Kia Telluride.

Other potential foils for the Kia EV9 include the Hyundai Ioniq 7. The Ioniq 7 is set to be revealed in the coming months, and it will be a large electric SUV like the Kia EV9. In addition, the Volkswagen ID.4 may be a challenger to the ID.4. The Audi e-Tron is another electric SUV that people may find themselves torn between and the Kia EV9.

We may not know much about the Kia EV9 yet, but one thing is for sure: it’s going to be spectacular. We haven’t seen many large electric SUVs, and considering the popularity of SUVs in the traditional vehicle market, it’s likely that electric seven-seat SUVs like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 7 will be hugely popular. We’ll have to wait and see just how popular they become.
