The Ford Mustang GT takes the pony car to muscle car heights with the addition of a V8. However, it’s not just a Coyote V8; the GT and GT Premium pack a library of features. Still, if you wanted a fully loaded 2022 Ford Mustang GT, how much would that be? Better yet, is it worth it?

How much is a 2022 Ford Mustang GT fully loaded?

While the 2022 Ford Mustang GT starts at $37,645, the GT Premium is the most fully loaded of the GT offerings. If you want a fully-loaded GT trim, the 2022 Ford Mustang GT Premium starts at around $41,645. Potential owners can expect a list of higher-tier features that push the GT into pseudo-luxury territories for the extra starting costs.

For instance, the GT Premium has leather seats with heat and ventilation, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen with Ford’s Sync 3 system, and parking sensors. Also, TrueCar says the Mustang GT Premium offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Of course, the base 2022 GT offers features like a WiFi hotspot and Ford’s driver safety technology. Moreover, potential owners can upgrade their Mustang with features like active exhaust, a $1,225 option.

How much horsepower does the 2022 Ford Mustang GT have?

Unfortunately for fans of the 2022 Ford Mustang GT, the 2022 model year ditches ten horsepower compared to the 2021 Coyote V8-powered pony car. The result is a coupe or convertible with 450 horsepower instead of the 2021 GT’s 460 horsepower. Still, that’s more than enough power to move the Mustang with purpose. Furthermore, the GT Premium produces the same 450 horsepower as the base GT.

If you want higher horsepower in your 2022 Ford Mustang, you’ll have to opt for the 470-horsepower Ford Mustang Mach 1 or the range-topping, track-ready Shelby GT500.

What is the most expensive V8-powered Ford Mustang?

The most expensive V8-powered 2022 Ford Mustang is the Shelby GT500. The GT500 starts at around $78,215 and takes the beloved pony car to track-ready heights. However, with the current car market, you’d be lucky to find one for less than $90,000. Still, with 760 horsepower, sharp aero, a limited-slip differential, and MagneRide active dampers, it’s a tough benchmark to beat.

What is the cheapest Ford Mustang GT?

The cheapest 2022 Ford Mustang GT is the base trim, which starts at around $37,645. Potential owners can expect 18-inch wheels, power-adjustable seats, and a digital gauge layout for that money. Also, the base GT offers excellent value compared to other sports cars. The GT is nearly $4,000 less than the upcoming 400-horsepower Nissan Z Sport and considerably less than a 485-horsepower Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack.

What can you buy instead?

The best and most natural alternatives to the 2022 Ford Mustang GT and GT Premium are the V8-powered Chevy Camaro LT1, 1SS, and 2SS. The Camaro LT1 starts at roughly $37,495, just under the Mustang GT’s starting point. Also, the V8-powered Chevrolet Camaros produce 455 horsepower courtesy of their 6.2L V8 powerplants. As a result, the 2022 Camaro is more powerful than the 2022 Mustang GT, while the 2021 GT is more potent than the 2021 Camaro LT1.
