The luxury mid-size sedan market is filled with a number of formidable competitors, however, if you want a car that provides great value and outstanding reliability, then there’s almost no better choice than the Acura TLX. But how many miles will an Acura TLX last?

The Acura TLX should last for many years

The Acura TLX first debut in 2015 when the brand decided to replace two cars: the TL and TSX. And although the TLX didn’t exactly usher in a new segment for the brand, it did improve upon the automaker’s tried-and-true recipe for designing elegant luxury vehicles at an affordable price. As such, the TLX has always been priced in the high-$30,000 to $40,000 range, undercutting its German rivals by a large margin.

Pricing aside, the Acura TLX has proven to be reliable as many owners are easily getting their cars to around the 100,000-mile mark without any real issues. In fact, there aren’t too many complaints filed for the TLX on Car Complaints as the majority of them are for the 2015 model year, which is when the car first came out. So some growing pains were to be expected. Additionally, Repair Pal rated the TLX a 4.5 out of 5 stars for reliability and notes that it could cost around $440 per year for repairs, which is very low for a luxury car.

The TLX exudes confident handling and its responsive turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is powerful and makes it an utter joy to drive. Another main highlight is the car’s available ELS premium sound system, which made every song sound simply sublime. And while you can easily lease a new TLX and enjoy it for a few years, we wouldn’t hesitate to advise anyone to buy one and keep it for many years as it will surely last a long time.

What are the best Acura TLX model years to buy?

In case you would rather save some money and buy a used Acura TLX, then we would suggest looking into the 2016 to 2020 model years as the automaker seemingly worked out the kinks after the initial 2015 launch year. Car Complaints only has a few listed issues for the 2016 model year, however, you should always get a used car checked out by a mechanic before making a purchase. Fortunately, you won’t be paying too much for a used TLX either as many of them are selling for anywhere between $15,000 to $30,000 depending on the car’s location, trim level, and overall condition.
