How fast is the 2022 Hyundai Kona N?

The 2022 Hyundai Kona N can go up to 149 mph and go from 0 to 62 in 5.5 seconds. That’s pretty fast for an SUV, and especially one that isn’t coming from a well-known luxury brand. The 2022 Kona N has a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine that can make up to 276-hp and 289 lb-ft of torque. This is matched to an eight-speed transmission. The 2022 Kona N comes standard with front-wheel drive.

There’s also an N Grin Shift that will allow the 2022 Kona N to boost up to 286-hp for 20 seconds. It’s the sort of thing that would be especially helpful when you’re getting on the highway or have other cause to need to suddenly and steadily accelerate.

Will the Kona N be AWD?

No, the 2022 Hyundai Kona N will not be all-wheel drive. It will come in front-wheel drive. In addition, there is no manual option in the 2022 Kona N. This may come as a disappointment to those who were hoping that Hyundai would give the Kona N the same treatment as the 2022 Hyundai Veloster N, which does have a manual transmission option. The 2022 Kona N also has an N mode, accessible through the infotainment screen. This allows drivers to manage adjustments and information in the Kona N.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment in the 2022 Kona N is the noise. Car and Driver notes that the 2022 Hyundai Kona N comes with a whole lot of noises that most people would probably rather not deal with. For example, the sound of air rushing into the car, and the noises of the roads that you traverse in the Kona N. If you love everything else about the 2022 Kona N, you’ll likely put up with this.

How much does a Hyundai Kona N cost?

Pricing for the 2022 Kona N hasn’t been released yet. Car and Driver estimates that the 2022 Kona N will start at around $35,000. This will make it cheaper than other performance SUVs, like the BMW X2 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA 35. This makes sense, as those are luxury vehicles, and Hyundai is not. Perhaps the biggest draw to those other vehicles is that they come standard with all-wheel drive, but if that isn’t a big deal to you, you probably won’t miss it.

How fast is the 2022 Hyundai Kona N? At up to 286-hp and a top speed of 149 mph, it’s fast enough to help you forget about the BMW and Mercedes versions. And yet it’s affordable enough to make it a daily driver for many people. Perhaps the 2022 Kona N will pave the way for more superfast Hyundais down the road.
