U.S. News has ranked the 2023 Model 3 No. 4 in the luxury electric cars category. The Model 3 scored 8.6 out of 10 overall. This score includes data such as performance, interior, safety, quality, and reliability. This evaluation consists of 33 pieces of research and data to rank the models within these categories.

While the overall rating is 8.6, the Model 3 scored exceptionally high in performance, earning a 9.6. It also earned a 10 in the safety category. However, what brought the score down for the Model 3 was its interior, citing that the model had cramped rear seats for those who regularly have more than one passenger, and the touchscreen controls had some reliance issues. The usability of the infotainment system can be confusing at times, and it can become complex to use.

The 2023 Model 3 has everything that a driver looking for an electric car would want, including rear- and all-wheel drive, 271-455 horsepower, a range of 118-138 miles per charge in the city, and 107-126 on the highway.

Over the life of the car, it is also less expensive to own than a gas-powered car, providing drivers with more options to get where they need to go without worrying about the varying cost of gas. Like other EV models, the Model 3 can be charged at home or at one of Tesla’s 7,000 Supercharger Outlets throughout the United States. Charging time takes 10-12 hours for a full charge or about 175 miles of range per fifteen charging minutes.

The Model 3 was the highest-rated Tesla

The current year Model 3 also scored well against other Tesla models, achieving the highest rating out of all of them. This was primarily due to its efficiency and performance compared to other Tesla models that don’t have the same high-quality performance as the Model 3. It was also rated highly for its overall value compared to other luxury electric vehicles.

U.S. News also compared the 2022 Model 3 to the 2023 and found no significant differences outside of an increase in the Model 3’s maximum driving range in the base and long-range models.

What U.S. News loved about the Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 has many benefits over previous Model 3 years and other Tesla models. It has an excellent driving range compared to other electric vehicles, responsive acceleration, and sporty handling. The 2023 model has an improved range and an elegant cab design with spacious front seats. While the back may feel a little cramped, the Model 3 has above average cargo space compared to similar EV models.

The Model 3 also gets praise for its fuel economy, with a zero-to-sixty time of 5.8 seconds, with times of 4.2 and 3.1 for the Long Range and Performance powertrain variations, making for excellent performance across all of the Model 3 options.
